Busan International Film Festival 2024 will have films by Singaporean director Eric Khoo, Twice’s Dahyun and BTS’ RM

Busan International Film Festival 2024 is gearing up to be one for the books. This year’s iteration of the acclaimed film festival is set to further propel Singapore’s film industry, through its inclusion of multiple productions involving Singaporean directors and producers such as Eric Khoo, Nelicia Low and Chiang Wei Liang.
For K-pop fans, Busan International Film Festival 2024 will premiere works starring members from two of the biggest K-pop groups of all time.
Directed by celebrated Singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo, Spirit World makes history as the first Singapore co-production to close out the Busan International Film Festival. The film stars French actress Catherine Deneuve as a famous singer who flies to Japan to stage her final concert. Also starring in the movie are Shin Godzilla’s Yutaka Takenouchi, veteran entertainer Masaaki Sakai and actress Jun Fubuki.
Other Singaporean co-productions that will be screened at the festival include Pierce by Singaporean filmmaker Nelicia Low and Mongrel by Chiang Wei Liang.
Low previously won best director at this year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for her work on Pierce.
Onces and Armys, on the other hand, can look forward to the premieres of You Are The Apple Of My Eye and RM: Right People, Wrong Place at this year’s festival.
The former is the Korean remake of the popular Taiwanese film of the same name, and stars Twice member Dahyun as the female lead.
The latter is a documentary that follows BTS member RM as he prepares for his military enlistment and his second solo album.
The film festival will also pay tribute to the late South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun by screening six of his works including Parasite, My Mister and A Hard Day. The actor died in December 2023 of an apparent suicide. 
Busan International Film Festival 2024 will take place from Oct 2 to 11, with screenings across seven theatres in Busan.
