    Description

The Sosnowski machines are unique because they use centrifugal force for the separating action. Unlike the complex process of grain cleaning machines using screens, the operation of the Sosnowski [sos NOW ski] machine is very simple and user friendly with only two controls: air flow and grain flow. These two adjustments determine the cleaning action. A central diffusing element inside the cleaning tube is also key and improves the cleaning quality to almost twice that of most other similar machines on the market. This machine carries 18 patents and has only one moving part: a fan blade attached directly to the shaft of the motor.

This machine will clean many types of common grains such as barley, spelt, rye, wheat, oats, maize, corn, soybeans, sunflowers, rape, peas, dry beans, etc. After cleaning, the grain will be ready for storage, for planting or for grain burning furnaces. The cleaners have also been used for separating the stems and leaves of mint; leaves from frozen fruit; sawdust from wood chips and small bits of wood and plastic from sand or bark.
Harmful fungus and toxins in grains grow more on the light or cracked kernels, chaff and dust. These diseases can easily double in a month when stored in slightly damp conditions. Separating the good grain from the undesirables will remove a large portion of these toxins. Cleaning tests with popcorn and spelt were conducted and the results tested by a certified lab. The popcorn was infested with a vomitoxin level of 11.2 which is unusually high. The spelt tested at 1.5 vomitoxin. After being cleaned with a Sosnowski grain cleaner, the popcorn tested at 1.8 and the spelt tested at 0.7. The Sosnowski Grain Cleaner will accomplish the task or removing this bad part of the crop from the good part with blue ribbon performance.
It is easy to increase the value of your crop such as one farmer did in Saskatchewan. In 2016, he had 6,000 bushels of wheat that was contaminated with a high level of Fusarium fungus. It was rated as a grade 3 grain which was unfit for food or feed. The most that he was offered was .50/bu. Since the fungus consumes the inner part of the kernel, the thins, the lights, the cracks and the fines are the most susceptible to this infection. After cleaning the grain with a Sosnowski machine, this part of the grain was removed which contained most of the fungus. The grain was then upgraded to grade 1 and the offer on the wheat was .60/bu. This price difference was .10 per bushel which amounted to an increased value of over ,000 for the crop. His Return On Investment (ROI) was immediate and his purchase added more profit to his bottom line.
When the motor is started on a Sosnowski grain cleaner, air is sucked up through the center tube in a unique pattern and exits out the exhaust. Grain enters the cleaner through the hopper near the top and floats down by gravity through this column of air. The point of separation is controlled by the air flow. Anything entering the cleaner which cannot resist the air flow will be taken out the exhaust.  The key word here is
    density
(weight & surface area). Even material that is heavier than your good seed may be taken out if it's surface area is large enough. For example, wheat heads can be separated out even though they are heavier than the good seed because its surface area is much larger. Anything less dense than the good seed will be taken out.

If the setting on the combine leaves a lot of large trash in the grain like thistle seed heads, long straw stems, large insects, etc the grain needs to be run through the cleaner at a slower rate. This will give the cleaner the best chance at separating these heavier items from the grain.  Sometimes the momentum of the grain will drag foreign material along down with it. A screen accessory may be needed to remove the larger trash pieces if they are still at an unacceptable level. Some operators who already own a good screen machine will purchase a Sosnowski and set it up to pre-clean grain before it runs through their screen machine. They do this for the sole reason of speeding up the cleaning process. Much time is saved when screens don't need to be cleaned as often.

Field trials have confirmed that using only the healthy, plump seeds for planting may increase yields up to 30%. An added benefit is that the crop may mature more uniformly and up to a week earlier. Grading out the heaviest, healthiest seed can be accomplished by performing  a hard separation. This is done by simply increasing the amount of air during the cleaning process. This will cause the lighter seeds that are often malnourished and diseased to exit the exhaust. This material can then be re-cleaned at a lighter separation and used for feed or sold. This same process has been used to sell the best part of the grain crop at a premium because the healthiest, plumpest seeds had the highest test weight. These grain cleaners can be run at full capacity to remove dockage before the grain is stored or used for burning in furnaces. When cleaning grain for seed, a rate of 60% or less of capacity is recommended.
The three smallest models are about the same size as a short, medium and tall person. They are not bulky, clumsy pieces of equipment that need large machinery to move them from place to place. They do not need to be mounted in a stationary location. Three anchor rings near the top along with a lifting harness will expedite the safe movement of the machines from one place to another. Farmers and custom seed cleaning operators alike have mounted these units on small trailers for ease of mobility. These machines can be set up almost anywhere including out in the field.
Multiple thousands of these machines are in use today. These machines are made of quality components and operate for many years without fail. One company bought a cleaning machine in 2013 to separate plastics. It was used 24/7 for two years non-stop including holidays and weekends. The third year it ran 12 hours a day, five days a week. It has operated with no down time during that time.
Because the Sosnowski machines have no screens to clean, it’s hard to beat their consistency and efficiency. When using a screen machine, choosing the correct screens can be a continuous process. Kernel size may vary from year to year or even from different areas of the same field. This variation is caused by differences in soil fertility and plant health. Cleaning the screens regularly is imperative to maintain consistency and becomes an ongoing, arduous task. With a Sosnowski, cleaning your own seed like a pro is now possible for the average Joe. It will reduce seed, herbicide and transportation costs saving you time, money and frustration. Best of all, it is absolutely user friendly and crazy simple to operate!

We, at Friendly Meadows, learned the hard (and expensive) way that it is a slow, frustrating process to clean seed with a conventional grain cleaner. In 2015, we spent more than ,000 to purchase a well known brand of grain cleaner that featured four large 42” X 36” screens along with a top aspirator that removed preliminary trash before the seed fell onto the screens. A large fan provided a separation of the light material from the good grain. It also featured a ball and rack system plus a knocker system to help keep the screens clean longer. The screens had to be cleaned frequently anyway. Even after just a few minutes the cleaning action was lost. The cracks, the fines, the thins and other foreign material still plugged the holes quickly. As a test, “cleaned” wheat from this screen machine is shown in the picture marked with a “1”.
If you examine it closely you can see cracked, thin and diseased seeds along with some chaff still in the grain. One ton of this “cleaned” wheat was put through a Sosnowski grain cleaner. A hard separation was done. A 100 lb used feed bag was attached to the exhaust to collect the winnowings. The bag was full when the job was finished and can be seen below in the picture marked with an “F”.
The winnowings were dumped on a pile (2a). A close-up is shown in the picture marked with a “2b”.
There were very few cracks, thin or light diseased seeds to be found in the cleaned grain after this process. The re-cleaned seed is shown in the picture marked with an “S”.
You don’t need to go break the bank to purchase a Sosnowski grain cleaner. This little workhorse packs a lot of punch for a fraction of the cost compared to other cleaners of the same class. There is no other grain cleaning machine that gives you more bang for your buck!

If you want one, don’t wait to purchase a cleaner until you need it. It is highly likely others will need a machine at the same time and inventory may become a problem. Purchase yours beforehand so you can test it and get it set up to move grain to and from the machine before you actually need it. If you decide to purchase this grain cleaner through ebay and then change your mind and want to return it, please be advised that refunds are issued only for clean and undamaged items. A restock charge (considered a rent charge) of 20% will be deducted from the refund amount, more if there is dirt or damage.
We use various methods of selling these cleaners. One of them is eBay. For complete information on these cleaners go to graincleanersoh dot com or search for Sosnowski grain cleaners in ohio.
